A delegation of Korean grain supply chain and engineering experts learned more about the quality and value of Australian wheat for noodles during a visit to Grains Australia.
The five-member delegation from the Korea Engineering Consultants Corporation (KECC) visited Australia to investigate and study conditions for strategic grain production, storage, processing, logistics and import into Korea.
As part of their visit, the group spent time with Grains Australia’s technical noodle experts to gain a greater understanding of the quality and value of Australian wheat for noodles, and the impact of Grains Australia’s work within the Australian grains supply chain.
The delegation was interested in learning more about the production and supply potential of Australian wheat and other grains to Korea, supply chain development, and business models for breeding, processing, storage, distribution and logistics.
Every delegation Grains Australia hosts is on behalf of Australian growers and the Australian grains industry to keep export markets engaged and informed. Face-to-face contact with customers, government and supply chain experts builds the trust and technical understanding that keeps Australia a preferred supplier in competitive markets.
Korea is one the two main markets for Australia’s unique udon noodle wheat, the other being Japan. Korea imports 1.6mmt of Australian wheat worth more than $700 million on average in total.
