November 2025

  • The Council focused on setting its strategic direction for the next 12–18 months, ensuring alignment with Grains Australia’s core functions and areas of highest value for industry.

  • A facilitated strategic planning session enabled Council members to collaborate on identifying priority actions and project concepts that will support grower outcomes and strengthen the oilseed supply chain.

  • Council members reviewed insights from a pre-meeting survey, along with the AOF’s Canola Vision 2035, to help identify where the Council can add the most value to growers and the broader industry.

September 2025

  • AEGIC presented an update on its portal and analytics to support Council discussion including approaches to prioritising market investment and targeted data collection.

  • The Council is looking to consolidate existing industry documents in preparation for its upcoming strategy-focused meeting.

  • The Council considered progressing a project to explore canola meal export opportunities.

February 2025

  • The newly established Oilseed Council held its first formal meeting following an introductory session in December 2024. Members received presentations from Grains Australia on classification and trade and market access, as well as from the Australian Export Grains Innovation Centre (AEGIC) on market insights and market education.

  • The Council was introduced to the refreshed Grains Australia Strategic Plan.

  • The Council was provided with an overview of the Australian Oilseeds Federation’s (AOF) current activities and strategic direction.

  • Working closely with AOF, the Oilseed Council has initiated discussions on strategic priorities, informed by feedback gathered through a member-wide survey. This survey has begun identifying key industry risks, opportunities and areas for investment.

  • The Council has also started exploring potential projects that could be implemented following the strategic priority-setting process.
