The role of the Wheat Council is to provide strategic advice to the Grains Australia Board on wheat industry matters including priorities and activities, strategic classification requirements, trade and market access issues relevant to wheat, and market information and education requirements.
Wheat Council members include:
Chair: Haydn Kuchel – Experienced in commercial plant breeding and R&D for wheat and barley. Haydn is based in South Australia.
Julie Alvaro – Western Australian grain grower with experience in governance, production and agribusiness.
Darryl Borlase – Experienced in cereal grain trading and exports. Darryl is based in South Australia.
Larisa Cato – Experienced cereal chemist and grain researcher, well versed in the wheat quality requirements of Australia’s international markets. Larisa is based in Western Australia.
Alastair Falconer – Western Australian grain grower with experience in production and management.
Dr Kirsty Germaine – Experienced in the grains, milling and baking industries including baking, cereal science, food technology, R&D, technical support, compliance and quality systems. Kirsty is based in New South Wales.
Matthew Madden – New South Wales grain grower with experience in governance, production, export grain and agribusiness.
Alex Onus – Experienced in grain trading and exports, particularly wheat. Alex is based in New South Wales.
William Reid – Experienced in grain trading and exports, including wheat and barley. Will is based in Western Australia.
Claire Shadbolt – Experienced in grain quality, analysis and sustainability. Claire is based in Western Australia.
William Syers – Experienced in milling, distribution and technical requirements for grain. William is based in Victoria.
Bruce Watson – New South Wales grain grower with experience in R&D, governance, production and finance.
