Variety classification frameworks for pulses are underway.

A framework for lentils (Australia’s first varietal classification framework for pulses) has been developed and Grains Australia is working with stakeholders to refine and implement it.

Grains Australia is currently in the process of developing Frameworks for Faba Beans and Lupins.

Going forward, Grains Australia will establish varietal classification frameworks for chickpeas and other pulse crops.

The frameworks will include the important inherent quality characteristics of pulse varieties that are desirable for specific uses and/or markets.
