To ensure that wheat varieties are appropriately evaluated and classified, samples submitted for evaluation must follow specific requirements.  All laboratories that contribute to data utilised in the wheat varietal applications are required to participate in the Grains Australia Wheat Laboratory Proficiency Program.

The proficiency program, managed by an independent third-party provider, is carried out on an annual basis and supports the integrity of the Classification process by utilising industry agreed methodology. The proficiency program assists in monitoring the consistency of data and performance of laboratories wishing to provide data for classification.
