Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are now being accepted for the establishment of a Grains Australia Oilseed Council.

Grains Australia invites applicants from across the Australian oilseeds industry, who have skills and experience in areas including production, research, breeding, trade and market access, storage and grain handling, processing, or developing products for consumers.

The new Oilseed Council will join Grains Australia’s existing Commodity Councils for barley, wheat, oats, and pulses, as well as the Grains Market Access Council. The Commodity Councils represent specific commodities and provide strategic advice to the Grains Australia Board.

Grains Australia, an initiative of the Grains Research and Development Corporation, is responsible for vital industry services and functions that improve the industry’s competitiveness and profitability.

Grains Australia’s Oilseed Council will have responsibility for overseeing the implementation of classification frameworks for Australian oilseed crops and providing expertise and advice in identifying oilseed trade and market access priorities, and requirements for market information and market education relevant to oilseeds.

The EOI process and selection of the new Oilseed Council members is being carried out with the support of the Australian Oilseeds Federation (AOF), with which Grains Australia has a Memorandum of Understanding.

“We welcome applications from individuals across the Australian oilseeds sector who have a thorough understanding of the industry and can offer strategic advice on its market needs, priorities, and opportunities,” Grains Australia Chief Executive Officer Richard Simonaitis said.

“The Oilseed Council will be formed through an open EOI process, with selections based on applicants’ skills, experience and the diversity of the group in terms of background, geography, and supply chain position.”

Those with the required expertise are encouraged to complete the EOI form online on the Grains Australia website before 5pm AEST on Friday, October 4, 2024.
