Technical insights from Grains Australia have helped customers in China and Vietnam better understand the value of Australian wheat, canola and sorghum for premium food products and animal feed.
Grains Australia was a key partner for the 2026 Australian Grains Industry Conferences (AGIC Asia) in Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City, which attracted more than 550 delegates from across the Chinese and Vietnamese industries.
Grains Australia CEO Richard Simonaitis shared the benefits of reliable Australian feed grains, providing technical information on how to effectively use Australian sorghum as a superior source of starch for livestock, and canola meal as an excellent protein source for animal feed and aquafeed. Our key messages for customers:
Sorghum represents a competitive starch source for Asia livestock diets due to:
- High starch content.
- Moderate protein.
- Moderate source of available phosphorus.
- Moderate to high protein density.
- Very good fatty acid profile for improving carcass quality and nutritional value of eggs, milk and meat.
- Bright, white Australian wheat is well suited to noodles, steamed buns, dumplings, bakery goods, banh mi (bread), and more.
- Grains Australia invests in further understanding quality requirements of customers to help ensure that Australian wheat continues to be a preferred choice for flour millers.
- Grains Australia brings collaboration across the wheat supply chain and our key customers.
