Grains Australia was pleased to host a delegation of flour millers from major Indonesian milling companies during the Australian Grains Industry Conference (AGIC) Week 2026, in partnership with Grain Trade Australia (GTA) and Austrade under the Accessing New Markets Initiative. They joined a broader set of delegates participating at AGIC from China, India, the Philippines and Vietnam.

The senior representatives from Bogasari and Cerestar made connections across the Australian grains supply chain, including industry briefings, field trips to Horsham and Geelong, and attendance at AGIC Australia 2026, and were highly appreciative of the opportunity.

Indonesia is one of Australia’s largest wheat markets, with 4.36 mmt exported valued at $1.83b annually on average*.

During AGIC 2026, John Southwell, Grains Australia’s General Manager – Trade and Market Access, shared insights into the challenges and opportunities in Southeast Asian feed grain markets, alongside the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry’s Jared Greenville and Su McCluskey from the National Farmers’ Federation.

Mr Southwell told attendees that Southeast Asia continues to be a significant opportunity for Australian feed grains, but non-tariff measures are costing the industry billions. He said close collaboration across the grain supply chain and government is crucial to trade and market access.

As a Trade Diversification Network (TDN) member, Grains Australia is proud to partner with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and Grain Trade Australia to build the strength, quality and reliability of Australia’s grains, pulses and oilseeds industry. The TDN is part of Austrade’s Accessing New Markets Initiative (ANMI), designed and jointly delivered by Austrade and industry.
