The Grains Australia Malting and Brewing Industry Barley Technical Committee (MBIBTC) convened recently to evaluate a new entry and undertake ongoing assessments within the 2024 Malting Barley Accreditation Program.
This session included an assessment of a newly submitted variety, a Stage One evaluation and a review of data for the Malt Performance Summary for the recently accredited variety, Zena CL.
Grains Australia is committed to providing timely announcements on malt accreditation decisions and is pleased to make the following announcements:
New Variety Accepted into Accreditation Program
- RGT Atlantis: Submitted by RAGT. Has been accepted into Stage Zero of the accreditation program. Pending final quality checks, sufficient grain parcels are available for Stage One evaluation to commence in 2025. Further details will be confirmed once the 2025 program is finalised.
Varieties Undergoing Evaluation
- Spinnaker: Submitted by SECOBRA. Parcels of grain were pilot malted, as planned, to satisfy the requirements for Stage One. Spinnaker has successfully completed Stage One evaluation and can now proceed into Stage Two commercial evaluation trials in 2025.
- Varieties undergoing Stage Two are still undergoing evaluation. Evaluation outcomes will be announced at the usual time of early March 2025.
Malt Performance Summary
